CEDAR RAPIDS — A 26-year-old Wisconsin man, who authorities say traveled to Iowa to have sex with a juvenile male, was indicted Wednesday in federal court on charges of sexual exploitation.
Carson Tyler Sibley of LaCrosse, is charged with one count each of sexual exploitation of a child, commission of a felony offense involving a minor while being required to register as a sex offender, enticement of a minor and travel for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct. Arraignment hasn’t been set at this time.
Sibley was first arrested and charged with enticing a minor for sexual purpose in Grundy County District Court last month but the case was transferred to U.S. District Court this month, court documents show.
Sibley is accused of traveling to Grundy County to meet a boy, under the age of 16, to engage in sexual acts for the purpose of producing videos or photos for distribution on May 29, state and federal court documents show.
He has been previously convicted of offenses related to distributing and possession of child pornography, the indictment shows. Sibley was convicted of one count of promoting child abuse in the second-degree and three counts of promoting child abuse in the third-degree, also a felony, July 2, 2013 in the Circuit Court of the First Circuit in Hawaii.
The indictment also shows Sibley is a registered sex offender in Wisconsin.
If convicted on all charges, Sibley could face up to life in prison.
