Authorities identify woman's body found Sunday as Sadie Alvarado

Lee County officials have identified the young woman’s body that was found Sunday morning in Lee County as that of 20-year-old Sadie Alvarado, of Muscatine, Iowa.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, the woman’s remains were found at about 10:45 a.m. Sunday on 235th Avenue, a gravel road just south of West Point.

Damian Hamann, 28, of Morning Sun, Iowa, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in a death — a Class D felony — in connection with the woman’s death, authorities said. Hamann turned himself in to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday.

Authorities have not identified the cause or nature of the woman’s death, but said an autopsy has been scheduled to take place on Tuesday.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
