IOWA CITY — Police are investigating after two people said they were assaulted and robbed early Sunday by a half-dozen men.

Police said two people were walking about 2:20 a.m. in the 400 block of South Clinton Street when a white Suburban- or Yukon-like SUV pulled up next to them.

The pair told police the SUV occupants started shouting at them, then got out and charged at them. The two people received minor wounds in the ensuing assault.

The pair told police the six men involved in the assault then returned to the SUV and drove off. Police said personal property was stolen from one of the victims during the attack.
