Victim injured after Iowa City robbery

Iowa City Police are investigating an early Sunday morning robbery.

At around 1:20 a.m. Sunday, police responded to reports of a medical emergency on the 200 block of Iowa Avenue.

According to a news release, a victim of a robbery was found at the scene with non-life-threatening injuries, which he was treated at the hospital for.

The victim reported that a black male with short hair approached him in the alley in the 10-block of South Dubuque Street and asked him if he wanted to buy drugs. When the victim declined, this suspect punched him, knocking the him to the ground, and then assaulted him again while down, according to the release.

Police are looking for the suspect, who stole some of the victim’s personal property before fleeing the scene.
