Iowa City police arrested an Illinois man earlier this week after a woman reported he sneaked into her bedroom while she was sleeping and forced her to have sex.

According to a criminal complaint, Kameron Jordan, 20, of Downers Grove, was visiting the woman’s roommate and staying overnight on Monday.

Police said the woman, who said she never met Jordan, went to bed alone in her bedroom and woke up around 4 a.m. “to find the defendant on her bed touching her” and touching himself. The complaint states the woman yelled at Jordan and he “hid on the ground by the bed” until she fell back asleep.

A short time later, the woman told police, Jordan got into her bed, “covered her mouth with his hand, held one of her arms down and forced her to have sex,” according to the complaint.

Police said the woman’s roommate later confronted Jordan via text message and he replied that he was “in a remorse and self-disgust filled haze” and apologized for his behavior.

Jordan faces a charge of third-degree sexual abuse, a Class C felony.
