A motorcyclist was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals for potentially life-threatening injuries after a crash outside Martelle, according to a media release from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

Shortly before 11 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Highway 1 and Butcher Rd. They found a motorcycle driven by Thomas Auner, 56 of Tiffin, was northbound on Highway 1. A pickup truck driven by Carol Brannaman, 62 of Mount Vernon, was westbound on Butcher Rd. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, according to the release.
