CEDAR RAPIDS — Police say public tips helped them make an arrest in a March theft.

According to a Cedar Rapids police news release, Jeffrey R. Stone, 32, of Red Wing, Minn., was arrested Wednesday in Cedar Rapids for fifth-degree theft and five counts of false use of a credit card for an incident that occurred last month.

Police in May reached out to the public for assistance in identifying a suspect who on March 28 stole a credit card from a vehicle and used the card to make purchases at five convenience stores in Cedar Rapids. Surveillance photos were provided to the public and several tips were received through Linn County Crime Stoppers that left to the identification of the suspect.

“The Police Department is appreciative of the public’s assistance in this case,” a Thursday news release states.
