Police release surveillance video of Iowa City armed robbery suspects

CrimeStoppers offering reward for information leading to arrest

IOWA CITY — Iowa City police released surveillance video Monday of two men suspected of robbing an Iowa City pharmacy at gunpoint.

According to a news release, officers were called to Walgreens, 2214 Muscatine Ave., at 11:58 p.m. Saturday for an armed robbery that had occurred at the pharmacy. Police said two suspects approached the pharmacy counter, got the pharmacist’s attention and then one of them displayed a handgun.

The men then hopped over the counter and grabbed an undisclosed amount of medication before fleeing the store, police said. There were no injuries reported.

One of the suspects was wearing gray sweatpants, a gray hooded sweatshirt and black shoes. The other suspect was wearing a dark jacket, dark green pants, white shoes and a black, flat-billed cap, police said.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case. Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (319) 358-8477.
