Iowa City Police find stabbing suspect with help of public

The Iowa City Police Department were able to use a public tip to track down a suspect of a stabbing that happened on Monday.

According to a police media release, the department put out a call for assistance in finding Kitty Monique Hood, 28, of Dubuque. Police say Hood was identified as being involved in a stabbing following a domestic dispute on Monday. On Monday at roughly 1 p.m., according to the release, officers responded to a call to a residence at the 2500 block of Wayne Avenue for a report of a woman suffering from a “non-life-threatening laceration to the forehead.”

After gathering this information, the Iowa City Police Department put out a call for public tips to find Hood and they say that it was a tip submitted to the Iowa City Crime Stoppers tip line that helped them apprehend her on July 4.

In an Iowa City Police criminal complaint, Hood is described as being in a dispute with “an adult sister” over Hood bringing alcohol into the woman’s residence. As the argument became heated, Hood allegedly threatened her sister’s vehicle with a knife, and, after a confrontation, Hood stabbed her on the forehead, causing a laceration. Hood then fled the scene.

After he capture by police, Hood was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault With Intent or Displays a Weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor.
