HIAWATHA — An 18-year-old man faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, after a man was shot during an argument over Facebook posts.
Hiawatha police were called about 2:35 a.m. Jan. 17 to the Hy-Vee Drugstore at 2001 Blairs Ferry Rd. for reports of a person with a gunshot wound.
Officers found a 25-year-old man who had been shot in the stomach. He was hospitalized with serious injuries, police said.
Police on Thursday arrested Ryan P. Wilson, of Marion, in connection with the shooting. He was charged with attempted murder, willful injury causing serious injury and felon in possession of firearm.
Investigators said they determined the 25-year-old was shot at an apartment on Northwood Drive in Hiawatha.
According to the criminal complaint, officers spoke with a person at the apartment who said Wilson and the man who was shot argued about Facebook posts.
During the argument, Wilson brandished a Bodyguard .380 subcompact semi-automatic pistol, shot the man and fled, the complaint said.
