The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has added additional charges to an incident that disrupted Swisher Fun Days.
According to a sheriff’s office media release, John Hunter Schulte, 25, of Des Moines was originally charged with public intoxication and two counts of simple assault related to the events at Swisher Fun Days on July 28. They have since added two counts of indecent contact with a child stemming from the same incident.
According to the release, multiple witnesses stated that Schulte inappropriately touched the two girls — aged 4 and 10 — by lifting them above his head and making contact with their “groin area” with his face.
When interviewed by deputies the girls said that Schulte told them that he loved them and would take care of them, according to the release.
In witness statements in the release, when Schulte was confronted about his behavior and told to leave, he picked up the 4-year-old, appearing as if he was going to leave with the child. Schulte was then approached by another witness who took the girl from him and returned her to her mother.
