An Iowa City woman was arrested over the weekend after she allegedly hit a police officer with a beer bottle.

According to a criminal complaint from the Iowa City Police Department, officers were dispatched at about 9 p.m. Saturday to a parking lot in the 1300 block of Highland Court for a report of a female walking in the street.

When they arrived, police said they found Alba K. Garcia-Gudiel, 27, passed out in a parking lot. When they roused Garcia-Gudiel, police said she exhibited signs of intoxication including poor balance and slurred and confused speech. A breathalyzer test showed her blood alcohol content was .207, and marijuana was found in her possession, the complaint states.

Police said Garcia-Gudiel became belligerent and uncooperative when they attempted to take her to a hospital for treatment, allegedly fighting with the officers and striking an officer on the chin with a full beer bottle.

Garcia-Gudiel was eventually taken into custody and transported to Johnson County Jail on charges of assault on persons in certain occupations, simulated public intoxication, third or subsequent offense, and interference with official acts.
