IOWA CITY — Gov. Terry Branstad has appointed an Iowa City lawyer as the next 6th Judicial District judge.

Chad A. Kepros of North Liberty will replace Stephen Jackson Jr., who left the district to become a U.S. magistrate in the Southern District this month. Kepros, while at Bray and Klockau, practiced domestic relations and family law. He also has trial, appellate and mediation and other alternative dispute resolution experience, and served as a magistrate in Johnson County.

He received his undergraduate degree at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, and his law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law.

The 6th Judicial District includes Linn, Benton, Johnson, Jones, Tama and Iowa counties.
