Linn County reported 60 new coronavirus cases Friday, the second straight day of more than 60 new cases.
The county’s rolling seven-day average also increased from 42 to 44, the highest average recorded.
Since the virus began in mid-March, Linn County has had 2,289 cases of the virus.
Johnson County reported 24 new coronavirus cases for a total of 2,036. The rolling seven-day average is 24.

Polk County reported 133 coronavirus cases in the 24-hour period, which pushed its total number of cases above 10,000, to 10,077.
Statewide, Iowa on Friday reported 591 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the state’s total to cases to 47,728.
Of the 5,480 test results reported, 10.78 percent were positive.
Six Iowans died from the novel coronavirus in the 24-hour period, increasing the state’s death toll to 912. The counties reporting a death were Franklin, Lyon, O’Brien, Pottawattamie, Scott and Sioux.

The number of Iowans hospitalized for the coronavirus decreased from 237 to 223. The number of patients in intensive care units dropped from 68 to 65. Patients on ventilators decreased from 32 to 25.
Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids once again has been added to the list of long-term care facility outbreaks in the state, with six coronavirus cases and one recovery. The center reported its first outbreak May 4, and was taken off the list June 9.
Madrid Home for the Aging in Boone County also was added to the list.
Overall, 26 long-term care facilities have reported outbreaks — three in Linn County, one in Johnson. An outbreak is considered three or more positive cases among residents and staff.
