Union announces endorsements for Cedar Rapids, Iowa City area elections

City council, school board elections are Nov. 5

The Hawkeye Area Labor Council has announced its endorsements for local elections in Eastern Iowa.

Election Day is Nov. 5.

In-person early voting began on Monday and continues through 5 p.m. Nov. 4. Absentee ballot request forms must be received in county auditor offices by 5 p.m. Oct. 25.

Among the labor council’s endorsements are:

City Council

• Cedar Rapids: Pat Loeffler and Ann Poe, at-large; and Scott Olson, District 4.

• Iowa City: Megan Alter and Janice Weiner, at-large; Pauline Taylor, District A; and John Thomas, District C.

• North Liberty: RaQuishia Harrington, at-large.

SCHOOL BOARD

• Cedar Rapids: Cindy Garlock, at-large; David Tominsky, District 1; and Dexter Merschbrock, District 4.

• Linn-Mar: LaSheila Yates, at-large.

• Iowa City: Charlie Eastham, at-large.

• Center Point: Cory Vaupel, at-large.
