Pranav Chhaliyil, 16, of Fairfield gets help from his dad, Pradheep Chhaliyil, as he assembles a poster for his project in the senior biological division at the Eastern Iowa Science and Engineering Fair at Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, March 18, 2017. Pranav devised an effective new way of brushing teeth, and for the past four years has completed projects on the theme of dentistry, presenting his findings at local, state and international scientific gatherings. Middle and high school students showcased their projects at the Eastern Iowa Science and Engineering Fair at Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids Saturday. Individual and team projects were competing for a chance to present their work at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles, Cali. in May.
