CEDAR RAPIDS — Worried about sweltering heat Memorial Day Weekend?

No need.

Cedar Rapids has opened most of its splash pads early. Splash pads at Cedar Valley Park, Daniels Park, Hidder Park, Jacolyn Park, Noelridge Park, Redmond Park, Time Check Park and Twin Pines Park are now operating.

The splash pad water is on from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Splash pads at Cleveland Park, Hayes Park and the fountain at Greene Square need minor repairs, but are expected to open by Saturday, according to city officials.

The National Weather Service has a hazardous weather outlook for the next few days due to the heat indices. The forecast calls for highs around 90 degrees all weekend.

Noelridge Aquatic Center also opens for preseason swimming this weekend. Lap swims will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. each day and open swims from 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Monday. A kickoff swim will be held at all the outdoor pools — Bever, Cherry Hill, Ellis, Jones, Noelridge — on Friday, June 1.
