(The History Center)
(The History Center)

Today is National Chocolate Day.

What better way to celebrate than with a picture of a can of Chocolate Ice Cream Topping made by the True Worth Co. in Cedar Rapids.

The company was organized in 1922 and incorporated in 1923, manufacturing and selling syrups, flavoring extracts, soda fountain supplies and food products.

The company shared manufacturing space with The Liquid Malted Milk Co.at 720 Dewey Ave. NE.

It expanded and built a new plant at 824 N St. SW in 1932, with offices at 716 Oakland Ave. NE, until the company dissolved after 1938.

• Jami Roskamp is curator and education coordinator at The History Center in Cedar Rapids. Each month she profiles an artifact from the center’s collection.
