Zombie Burger + Shake Lab in Iowa City will close in about two weeks, the restaurant said Friday.

The Iowa City burger joint will close Saturday, Feb. 3, owner Orchestrate Hospitality said in a press release. The restaurant, 180 E. Burlington St., is one of five locations of the Zombie Burger chain, which serves a menu filled with undead-themed fare.

The next closest location is the Zombie Burger at Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville. Orchestrate announced both the Iowa City and Coralville locations at the same time.

Orchestrate President Paul Rottenberg said the company “may have overbuilt the market” with restaurants in both cities.

“Our Shake Lab brands were built to test the Zombie Burger concept in various environments. While we thought building a Zombie Burger in the epicenter of a college town would be a slam dunk, it became clear that our high-volume, family-driven brand wasn’t a fit for the setting,” he said in the release.

Zombie Burger also has locations in Des Moines, Ankeny and West Des Moines.
