A late August opening is planned for the third Dunkin’ Donuts store in the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City Corridor.

Andrea Farley, director of operations for Eastern Iowa Food Service, said the 2,000-square-foot store under construction at 584 Seventh Ave. in Marion will employ between 20 and 25 people.

Farley said the restaurant, which will offer inside seating as well as drive-up service, will be different in appearance from the Dunkin’ Donuts at 2905 Blairs Ferry Rd NE in Cedar Rapids and 604 Second St. in Coralville.

“The Blairs Ferry and Coralville stores were former Sonic locations that we retrofitted,” Farley said. “This is ground-up construction so the layout will be a little different. Given Marion’s aesthetic requirements, we had to modify a few things with the store’s design.

“We have had the Marion location picked out for several years. The Marion community has been great to work with and I think Marion is going to be a great spot for us.”

The Marion Dunkin’ Donuts will be open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. In addition to the company’s signature coffee and doughnuts, the restaurant also will offer frozen and iced beverages, bagels, muffins, bakery sandwiches and other food selections.

Farley said Eastern Iowa Food Service is working on a west side location in Cedar Rapids, which she declined to provide.

“We are hopeful to be on the west side of Cedar Rapids in 2017,” Farley said, adding that the potential location is not in proximity to the $90 million Westdale redevelopment. “It will be a little further north.”

In 2011, Massachusetts-based Dunkin’ Donuts announced a development agreement with Eastern Iowa Food Service for 12 stores in the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City area between 2012 and 2018.

Eastern Iowa Food Service is a subsidiary of Reif Oil Co. of Burlington, a family-owned fuel distributing company with retail stores in southeast Iowa. Farley is the daughter of Clifford Reif, president and CEO of Reif Oil, who founded the company in 1978 and still is active in the business.
