CEDAR RAPIDS — Chrome Horse Saloon and Slop House is back down to one location in Cedar Rapids after the restaurant’s owners closed their location on Blairs Ferry Road NE.

“We want to apologize to all our customers at the Blairsferry Chrome. It is a sad week for the Chrome Horse Saloon. We as an ownership team closed this location as a Chrome Horse,” a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page reads.

“It is an amazing building and we put a lot of blood sweat and tears in to the location. We are proud to say we are working on another concept to make this building a great success.”

The closure comes just a few months after Chrome Horse’s owners opened a location in the city’s New Bohemia district, which marked a return for the restaurant to that district.

Chrome Horse started with a location in NewBo, but moved to 1140 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE after a fire in 2014 shut down the first spot. Chrome Horse reopened a NewBo location, 1201 Third St. SE, in January.
