Wallflowers, Robert DeLong join 'newbo evolve' performers

CEDAR RAPIDS — The Wallflowers rock band and electronic musician Robert DeLong are scheduled to join headline musical acts at the “newbo evolve” festival that begins Friday.

GO Cedar Rapids, the tourism agency organizing the festival, announced the additions Thursday.

The Wallflowers take the stage Friday evening before headliner Kelly Clarkson. The band is best known for its hit singles “One Headlight” and “6th Avenue Heartache,” and for being fronted by Jakob Dylan — son of folk music icon Bob Dylan.

On Saturday night, DeLong takes the stage before headliner Maroon 5.

Among many other appearances, he has performed on the Conan O’Brien show and at the Coachella music festival.

The one-man dance-pop performer most recently has released the single, “Favorite Color is Blue,” featuring singer and rapper K. Flay.

Three-day festival passes and general admission concert tickets are available at newboevolve.com, the U.S. Cellular Center Box Office, Ticketmaster.com, or at 1-800-745-3000.
