Uthoff, Niang, Paige invited to NBA combine
May. 5, 2016 4:25 pm
IOWA CITY — Former Iowa forward Jarrod Uthoff, Iowa State forward Georges Niang and North Carolina guard Marcus Paige were among 63 players chosen to attend next week's NBA scouting combine in Chicago.
Uthoff, a 6-foot-9 graduate of Cedar Rapids Jefferson, ranked second in the Big Ten in scoring (18.9), first in blocked shots (2.7), and tied for 11th in rebounding (6.4). Uthoff is 19th in Iowa career scoring (1,259) and fourth in blocked shots (174).
Paige, a 6-2 Linn-Mar graduate, averaged 12.6 points and 3.8 assists per game for the national runner-up Tar Heels. Paige was the first player in North Carolina history to be named permanent team captain for three seasons. He also was the program's only player tabbed as the team's best defender all four years.

Niang, who stands 6-8, led Iowa State with 19.8 points and averaged a career-best 6.2 rebounds. Niang, who hails from Methuen, Mass., was the only player nationally to average 19 points and six rebounds, while shooting 50 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free-throw line. Niang won the Malone Award as the nation's best power forward, edging Uthoff.</>
