CROMWELL, CT - Less than a day after shooting 2-over 72, which included being five over par on his last four holes, Zach Johnson rebounded in a big way.
The Cedar Rapids native shot 65 in Friday's second round of the PGA Tour's Travelers Championship and currently sits at 3-under for the tournament, which is good for 26th place.
Johnson finished play on Thursday in 87th.
In Friday's round, he recorded eight birdies, a bogey and a double bogey (the par-4 17th hole, on which he also made triple bogey Thursday).
Johnson was 3-under-par heading into the 15th hole of his opening round, before struggling around the greens on the 15th (double bogey) and the 17th to finish Thursday's round 2-over-par. The 17th is currently playing .333 shots over par, which ranks as the toughest hole at the TPC River Highlands.
Defending champion Fredrik Jacobsen currently leads the tournament after following his opening-round 65 with a second-round 66. Jacobsen is 9-under-par. Play has been suspended due to weather.
