Hawkeye Downs: Griffin, Bohnsack look for second straight feature win

Hawkeye Downs Speedway will be in action Friday, hosting weekly points races.
Last week, teenager race car driver Jake Griffin claimed his third modified feature win of his rookie season at the Cedar Rapids asphalt track, and sits in third place of the season points standings. Kurt Bohnsack won his second feature of the season in the hornets class and sits atop of the season standings, leading Shane Hanson by just four points.
Joey Gase, who has run a partial schedule on the NASCAR Nationwide Series for teams such as Go Green Racing and Jimmy Means Racing, returned to the track, winning one of two late model features. Veteran Brad Osborn, the late model points leader, won a make-up late model event from June 15. Osborn leads Thor Anderson by five points for the season.

Dave McCalla continued his domination of the Sportsman division, winning his seventh feature last week.
Matt Petrzelka and Ben Schaitel each won features in hobby stocks and legends, respectively.
All six divisions will be in action with the trophy dash, a race made up of drivers who have yet to win this season, will be competed by hornets.
Gates open at 6 p.m. with hot laps starting at 6:35. Pre-race ceremonies are set for 7:15 with heat races at 7:30.
Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for students 13 years age 13 to 17 and
