Iowa high school boys’ state soccer: Brackets, scores, schedule for 2022 tournament
Tournament runs June 1-4 in Des Moines

Brackets are set in all three classes for the 2022 Iowa high school boys’ state soccer tournament, which kicks off next Wednesday at Cownie Soccer Park in Des Moines. The championship games are set for next Saturday.
Teams advanced with wins in Wednesday night’s substate finals. The Iowa High School Athletic Association seeded the qualifiers via a points system based on wins and the classes of the opponents those wins came against (3 for beating a 3A team, etc.), divided by regular-season games played.
Two of the three 2021 champions are back to defend their titles — Pleasant Valley in Class 3A and Burlington Notre Dame in 1A. Gilbert knocked out reigning 2A champ Cedar Rapids Xavier in penalties.
All three top-ranked teams advanced — Ankeny in Class 3A, Humboldt in 2A and Davenport Assumption in 1A. Only Ankeny got its class’ top seed.
Ankeny will have to face third-ranked Waukee Northwest in the first round. The Wolves are the eighth seed after seven of its 15 wins were flipped to forfeits due to reportedly using an ineligible player.
Here are the pairings, seeds and schedules for all three classes. This post will be updated with scores and coverage throughout the state tournament.
UPDATE: The IHSAA corrected Class 3A seeds Thursday afternoon, switching Iowa City West to the 3-seed and Urbandale to the 4-seed. West will now play Pleasant Valley in the quarterfinals, a rematch of last year’s title game.
