A periodic look at former Gazette-area high school athletes and where they are now:
Iowa colleges — Keera Ball (Xavier), Natalie Blank (Kennedy) and Megan Weber (Kennedy) of Cedar Rapids, Shaylee Dodd of Belle Plaine, Kelsey Hora of Ainsworth (Highland Community), Chloe Severson of Lansing (Kee) and Skyler Stookey of Solon are members of the Coe softball team, which qualified for the NCAA III championships by winning the American Rivers Conference regular-season title.
Sam Goodman and Zach Bierman of Epworth (Western Dubuque), Joel Vaske of Dyersville (Beckman), Kyle Moeder (Xavier), Brayden Dolphin (Kennedy) and Ryan Kilpatrick (Prairie) of Cedar Rapids, Caleb Fuller of Fairfax (Prairie) and Logan Schmitt of Independence are members of the Kirkwood baseball team.

Megan Allsup of Springville, Allison and Ashley Bys of North Liberty (I.C. West), McKenna Diercks of Marion (Linn-Mar), Megan Kitzmiller (Jefferson) and Ashley Sundstrom (Prairie) of Cedar Rapids are members of the Mount Mercy bowling team that finished in the top six at the ITC national tournament.
T.J. Johnson (Prairie), Nolan Cavanaugh (Washington), Jacob Henry (Kennedy), Jared White (Kennedy), Collin Leavy (I.C. West) of Cedar Rapids are members of the Coe baseball team, along with Riley LeGrand of Dyersville (Beckman), Tyler Elliott of Mount Vernon, Reid Rausch of Cascade, Nick Casey of Ryan (West Delaware), Mathieux Rehnke of Solon, and Grant Riggan and Camden Smyka of Tiffin (Clear Creek Amana).
Members of the Kirkwood softball team include Austyn Crees and Isabelle True of West Liberty, Angie Gorkow of Norway (Benton Community), Katie Cubbage of Belle Plaine, Reagan Schutte of Urbana (Center Point-Urbana), Jessie Frasher of Anamosa, Payton Akers of Atkins (Prairie) annd Olivia Richards of Cedar Rapids (Xavier).
Caleb Sass of Iowa City (City High), Carter Kriegel of Tama (South Tama), Ty Bopp (I.C. West) and Zach Stone (City High) of Coralville, Kole Hinrichsen of Washington (Iowa), Alec Boldt of North Liberty (Liberty), Drew Schaefer and Zac Stallman of Cedar Rapids (Kennedy) are members of the Cornell baseball team.
Makenna Bonewitz of Keystone (Benton Community), Natalie Tecklenburg of Dysart (Union Community), Makenna Moenk of Swisher (Prairie), Jess Heick and Madi Sprauge of Solon, Payton Bruner (Washington), Olivia Herring (Kennedy) and Emily Oler (Jefferson) of Cedar Rapids, Megan Croghan of Center Point (Center Point-Urbana), Audrey Grove of South English (English Valleys), Ella Johnson of Coralville (Liberty), Lilly Parrott of Belle Plaine, Jaicee Lyons of Atkins (Benton Community), Kallie Minger of Anamosa and Natasha Guenther of West Union (North Fayette Valley) are members of the Mount Mercy University softball team that won the Heart of America Conference title and earned a berth in the NAIA championships, which start Monday in Columbia, Mo.
