MARION — If the multitude of Asian flavors coming to Marion from MIX wasn’t enough excitement for the local palate, maybe poke will do the trick.
Ohana Poke Shop is moving to the space at 2931 Seventh Ave., Suite 600, in Marion — between Morning Story and Arby’s. The restaurant, which appears to be the first to specialize in poke in the Corridor, hopes to open in May after construction is finished, according to KHAK.
Poke bowls are a Hawaiian dish filled with a base of rice or salad and proteins such as fish, shrimp, chicken and pork. On top of that, you can often choose a marinade, fruit or vegetable toppings, sauce and crunchy toppings like wonton strips or sesame seeds. Ohana Poke Shop’s bowls will be available at the new restaurant in a “build your own” style.

“Think of poke as a deconstructed sushi roll served in a bowl,” the restaurant’s social media explains.
