Barker’s Ice Cream opens in Marion

Barker’s Ice Cream opened Sept. 21 at 2100 Seventh Ave. in Marion, in a former Dairy Queen building.
Barker’s offers several loose meat “Fave-Rite” sandwiches, malt-shakes, Twister ice cream mixes and slushies, in addition to other standard ice cream fare.
The new ice cream joint is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and is closed on Sundays.
Sweetopia moves to Marion

Sweetopia Emporium opened at a new Marion location Oct. 1, a move away from its former location at Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids.
It now serves candy, cakes and sweet treats at 1468 Twixt Town Rd., just across the Marion line. The Lindale location closed on Sept. 27.
Pink Umbrella Bakery plans a Coralville opening
A baker who started serving family recipes under a pink umbrella at farmers markets is planning a storefront opening soon in Coralville.
Pink Umbrella Bakery’s storefront will be located at 2100 Norcor Ave., Suite B.
For now, you can find Pink Umbrella cookies at Hy-Vee locations in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City and on the University of Iowa Campus.
