Before a story can be reported on, written and published, it has to be pitched to an editor — by you.
The Kids Gazette is looking for pitches from kids in Eastern Iowa. We want to hear about your unique accomplishments, projects you are working on in your school or community or anything else you find interesting.
Be a part of the Kids Gazette press club by pitching a story to us — the Kids Gazette. We want to hear about kids doing cool things. Let us know about a cool kid in your life and what makes them so awesome.

Students can share the books they love, sports they play and food they enjoy, among other things.
Think about a story you would like to report on or a subject you want to learn more about. It can be something in your school, neighborhood or community. Ask a teacher, parent or guardian to help you send your ideas and submissions to us.
Pitching in journalism is explaining what your story is about, why it’s important and why it needs to be told.
Stories should include a who — the subject of the story — what, when, where, why and how. For example:
- What happened?
- When and where did it happen?
- Why did it happen
- And how did it take place?
