Rural Iowa is in a unique position to lead the way on energy innovation. In addition to technology like wind and solar, there are other opportunities to increase land productivity and yields while also reducing harmful pollutants. I want to thank Sen. Joni Ernst and her staff for participation in recent virtual meetings with Citizens for Responsible Energy Solution from Iowa and around the U.S.
The bipartisan and bicameral Growing Climate Solutions Act (S. 1251 / H.R. 2820) provides assistance for farmers, ranchers, and private forest landowners to monetize conservation practices and on-farm energy production. It is a voluntary, logical approach to help farmers diversity their income by participating in carbon credit markets.
The idea is supported across the political spectrum, by more than 70 leading conservation, agricultural and environmental organizations. We thank Sen. Ernst, along with Sen. Chuck Grassley and Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks, for being a co-sponsor of the bill.

Good public policy has proved it can provide economic benefit to rural Iowa, while also increasing sustainable farming measures through a common-sense, voluntary approach that benefits everyone.
We look forward to continuing to work with Iowa’s federal delegation to advance more innovative 21st century solutions.
