Wing, Georgia M.
Georgia M. Wing, 102, a lifelong resident of Strawberry Point, Iowa, died Sunday, April 11, 2010, at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home.
Georgia Maye Wing was born on June 10, 1907, in Strawberry Point, Iowa, the daughter of Lee A. and Emma (Gleason) Wing. She was educated in Strawberry Point, graduating from Strawberry Point High School in May 1925. After high school, Georgia attended Business College in Cedar Rapids.
After completing her schooling, Georgia moved back to Strawberry Point and began her career, working for two attorneys for over 40 years. She worked for E. Holmes, and R.F. Fliehler. Upon her retirement in 1974, Georgia remained in Strawberry Point, living in the same house in which she was born.
Georgia enjoyed gardening, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. She was Strawberry Point's oldest citizen.
She is survived by one niece, Enolia Branstad; one great-niece, Cassie Bowe; one great-nephew, Jeffery Bowe; and her special friend, Ivanelle Bushaw.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald and Marvin Wing; one nephew, Richard Wing; and one niece, Virginia Wing.
Prayer Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Strawberry Point, with Rev. Ron Blix officiating.
Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. today at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Strawberry Point, and one hour prior to service on Wednesday morning at the funeral home.
Interment: Cass Township Cemetery, Strawberry Point, Iowa
