Wall, James Michael 'Mike'

James Michael “Mike” Wall, 65, died March 27, 2010.  At Mike's request, there will be no visitation or services. Mike was born July 24, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Kenneth J. and Dorothy M. Wall (deceased). Arrangements handled by Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel in Cedar Rapids and interment at Dunkard Cemetery in Midway, Iowa.

Survivors include his son, Commander Todd Alan Braynard and wife Shelli, Big Pine Key, Fla.; daughter, Robin and partner Tim McEowen, Urbana, Iowa; daughter, Danielle M. Wall, Fontana, Calif.; three grandchildren; and special friend and partner, Elayne Gassett of Shellsburg, Iowa.

Mike attended Roosevelt and Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids and studied further at El Camino Junior College and Los Angeles City College. He started his career working for his dad in the automobile business in Iowa City and eventually moved to Southern California, where he was a used car dealer and wholesaler. Later in life, Mike changed careers and became an owner/operator trucker. He always enjoyed his work, worked hard and played harder.

His hobbies included flying airplanes and racing cars. He helped to sponsor several race teams and eventually owned his own Dirt Sprint car which won several feature events.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
