Virgil Ray Diesing, 76, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, at his home. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pence Cemetery in Baldwin, Iowa.
Virgil is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughter, Colleen (Chris) Law, and their children, Kirsten, Madison and Chase of Cedar Rapids; son, Duston (Jessie) Diesing of Cedar Rapids; brother, John (Anita) Diesing of Scottsdale, Ariz.; half-sister, Bonnie McNames of Culleoka, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 49 years, Linda; and siblings, George Diesing and Donald Jenkins.
Virgil was born on May 4, 1946, in Iowa, the son of John Sr. and Emilie (Gnade) Diesing. He was a graduate of Andrew High School. On Feb. 5, 1966, he was united in marriage to Linda Varner at the Andrew Lutheran Church in Andrew, Iowa. Virgil retired after 46 years of work for Rockwell Collins. He loved his cats and fish, as well as gardening, morel hunting, fishing and spending time with family. Virgil will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund in Virgil's name has been established.
