Thomas McNamara

THOMAS J. MCNAMARA Ryan Thomas J. McNamara, 75, of Fair Oaks, Calif., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017. He was born Dec. 20, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the youngest son of Walter T. McNamara and Rose M. (Schulte) McNamara. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Dec. at St. Mel Catholic Church, Fair Oaks. The Very Rev. Corman Lacre officiated. Burial followed at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Citrus Heights, Calif. Thomas grew up in Ryan, Iowa, and he attended St. Patrick's Catholic Grade School through the eighth grade. He attended Manchester High School, achieving excellence in academics and music, and was an accomplished cornetist. He participated in athletics, graduating from Manchester High School in 1960. In 1960, Thomas moved to Los Angeles and became employed and pursued his academic endeavor. He graduated with a B.S.C degree in business administration from California State University Long Beach, C.S.U.L.B., Long Beach, Calif., in 1966. In 1967, Thomas became a stockbroker of the New York Stock Exchange and associated with a major stockbrokerage firm in Los Angeles. In 1975, Thomas became a licensed Real Estate broker, realtor and loan representative through the California Real Estate Commission and associated with a major real estate firm in Los Angeles. In 1984, Thomas moved to Fair Oaks and associated with a major real estate firm with membership in the Sacramento Association of Realtors, and remained in the real estate industry the rest of his life. Thomas had a great sense of wit and humor which he possessed throughout his life. Being Irish allowed Thomas to celebrate his heritage with everyone. He was a caring and compassionate person. He greatly appreciated the opportunity to assist each person to make the right decision in their financial affairs, acquiring a family residence or entering into a commercial investment. He respected each person's aspirations and expectations and he provided his knowledge and ability to attain the same. Thomas was a dedicated parent to his daughters, Carolyn and Cheryl, and participated in their activities. He believed in being a friend to every person and to respect their views and interests. Thomas is survived by his daughters, Carolyn J. McNamara, Sacramento, Calif., and Cheryl (Schofield) L. McNamara, Walnut Creek, Calif.; his brother, Walter L. McNamara, Cedar Rapids; his sister-in-law, Marjorie A. McNamara, Rogers, Ark.; his nephew and niece, Michael J. McNamara and Julie K. McNamara; his cousins, David T. McNamara, Kathleen M. McNamara, Linda A. Earley, James A. Steinbrech, Loretta A. Basten, Daryl J. Steinbrech, Louella M. Ulch, Sister Maurita Soukup, Juanita Soukup Roling, Patrick D. Soukup and Timothy R. Soukup; many other cousins and relatives; and his lifelong friends, Dick Duggan, Richard Wade, John Gavin, Suzanne (Gavin) Britt, Roger Wilson, William Corcoran and John Murphy. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Walter T. McNamara and Rose M. McNamara; his sister, Ardith L. McNamara; his brother George D. McNamara; and his brother, Patrick N. McNamara.
