Shirley Ann (Homme) Becicka, 77, longtime Oxford area resident, died Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the Colonial Manor Care Center in Amana.
Shirley Ann Homme was born March 13, 1945, in St. Cloud, Minn., the daughter of Halvor and Ferne (Wise) Homme. Her family moved to Cedar Rapids where she attended and later graduated from Prairie High School in 1963. She had worked at the Oxford Sale Barn, The Depot in Oxford, and served as manager at the Ox Yoke Inn on the Interstate near the Amanas.
Her family includes her son, Steven L. Becicka of Oxford; daughter-in-law, Denise Becicka of Oxford; six grandchildren, Brianna, Brandon, Alison, Lincoln, Quintin and Kameron; two great-grandchildren, Kasen and Stella; sister-in-law, Suzann Homme; and special niece, Meggan; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jim "Catfish" Becicka; sister and her husband, Pat and Doug Thorpe; and brother, Robert Homme.
Private family graveside services will take place at a later date at the Oxford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her memory to Oxford First Responders.
