Secor, Helen E.
Helen E. Secor, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died May 10, 2011, at Northbrook Manor Care Center following a short illness. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Knox Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jim Bonewald officiating. Private inurnment will be at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Surviving are her children, Connie Secor of Cedar Rapids, Norman Secor of Des Moines, and James Secor and wife Ilene of West Memphis, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Layton; and sister, Evelyn Johnston.
Helen Elizabeth Secor was born Oct. 9, 1919, in Deep River, Iowa, the daughter of Glenn and Floy (Scovil) Cook. She was united in marriage to Layton J. Secor on April 2, 1939, in Millersburg, Iowa; he preceded her in death in 1989. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was a member of the Daughters of Rebekah and attended Knox Presbyterian Church.
