Scott Derek Bekebrede,
51, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, at Concordia Lutheran Church by the Rev. Brad Brown. Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday all at the church. Teahen Funeral Home and Cremation Services is serving the family.
Scott is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughters, Christine (Andrew) Brewer and Dana (John Gardner), all of Cedar Rapids; his father, Ralph of St. Charles, Mo.; his brothers, Gary (Laura) of Suwanee, Ga., and Rick (Karon) of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters, Jean (Don) Moorman of St. Peters, Mo., and Gail (Terry) Quick of St. Charles, Mo.; and sister-in-law, Ruth (David) Singelyn of West Lake Village, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his mother; brother, David; and sister, Joan.
Scott was born Dec. 2, 1966, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Ralph and Norma Jean Schindler Bekebrede. He married Linda Ohlson on July 7, 1990, in Cypress, Calif. Scott received his B.A. and M.A. in computer programming from the University of Phoenix. He was a software development engineer for Siemens since 2013, after working for more than 20 years for Rockwell Collins. Scott was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.
Scott enjoyed reading, playing computer games, spending time with his dog Astrid, and drinking Diet Pepsi by the gallon. He liked listening to the Beatles, playing the guitar, and making music with friends in many bands and the church praise team. He was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan. Scott above all loved his family, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
