Scottsdale, Ariz.
Sarah Lynn Nyquist, 67, of Scottsdale, Ariz., passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022. A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. with a brief moment of sharing starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Survivors include her cousins, G. Richard (Jackie) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, James (Susan) Schmidt of Cedar Rapids, Randy (Judi) Johnson of Longmont, Colo., and Mary Ann (Pete) Shields of Falmouth, Ky. She also has many close friends too numerous to name.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alice Nyquist of Cedar Rapids; and her cousin, Gerald (Wava) Schmidt of Lisbon.
Sarah was born on Sept. 24, 1954, in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Washington High School and Coe College. She was employed by Rockwell Collins in the Finance organization until moving to Scottsdale, Ariz. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids and was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association.
Above all else, Sarah's passion was owning and showing championship Quarter Horses where she won multiple awards. She loved her animals, especially each of her horses and her dogs Buffy, Petie, Alexander and Theo. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, where she spent many hours decorating with her Byer's Choice carolers and drinking coffee from her Starbuck's Christmas coffee mugs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Sarah's name may be given to the St. Luke's Hospital Foundation in Cedar Rapids or the Cedar Valley Humane Society.
