Ronald Richard Steiner of Monticello passed away on Labor Day, Sept. 3, 2018, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice Home in Hiawatha with his significant other, Karen Meier Steiner, by his side. Visitation is scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Monticello, with services following.
Ron was born at John McDonald Hospital on Aug. 12, 1952, the son of Shirley (Ambuehl) Steiner and Richard Steiner. He attended school in Monticello. Ronald married Karen Meier in June 1981 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Monticello. They later divorced.
Ron is survived by two sons, Lonnie and son, Keegan Eilers, and Matthew (Rachel) and sons, Jaxon and Izak Eilers. He is also survived by four sisters, Jeannie (Marv) Greiner, Keota, Patricia Wirth, Marion, Donna (Tim) Mehaffy, Hiawatha, and Becky (Matt) Dirks, Maquoketa; and brother, Randy (Brenda) Steiner, Monticello; brothers-in-law, Larry (Nance) Meier and Lonnie Meier (Nancy Bader), Monticello; god-children, Kara Wade and Danielle Ray; and several nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Pete and Helen Meier; his sister, Diane Graves; and brother-in-law, Jim Wirth.
Ron was an independent contractor at Steiner Construction Inc. for more than 25 years in Marion. He built several commercial and residential homes all throughout Iowa. His largest project was in Cedar Rapids, Cottage Grove Place on First Avenue.
Ron's greatest joy in the last year was his faith in God and his brotherhood of friends he made at prayer group. He stated he should have done this years ago. It made him feel so at peace. He had no fear of passing on.
