Ronald Fontenot went to his eternal reward on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. A private family funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Christopher Podhajsky.
Ron was born April 14, 1954, in Ville Platte, La., the son of Kirby and Vernice Fontenot. He worked as a respiratory therapist at St. Luke's Hospital from 1990 until 2002. Ron loved his grandkids, Cajun cooking, gardening, collecting coins, fishing with his children and Iowa Hawkeye football. Ron is survived by his brother, Jimmy (Gwen) Fontenot; son, Seth, (Anna) and their children, Rory, and Renee Fontenot; son, Tate (Kari) and their dog, Sydney Fontenot; son, Jacob (Monique) and their children, Gabrielle, Andrew, Amelia, Sophia and Genevieve; and his friends, Don Katun, John Pisarik; and the St. Luke's RT team. Ron joins his mother, father and his beloved dog, Oscar in eternity. Rest in peace.
Memorials are suggested to the Medical Lending Closet at Grace Episcopal Church, 525 A Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401.
