Robert was born Nov. 30, 1928, in Cimarron, Kan., the son of Sam and Zerifie (Elkadri) Sion. The family moved to Dearborn, Mich., where Bob graduated from Fordson High School. As a young boy, Bob sold newspapers at the front gate of Ford Motor Company, both morning and night. He enjoyed working on the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, driving truck, roofing and carpentry, but his dream was to open his own tavern. He owned and operated Bob's Hide-A-Way I and II, retiring in 1991. He loved spending time with his great friend Revere Joe Joseph, and was a huge Packers and Michigan fan. Bob also enjoyed playing pool and operating the Inner City Pool League for more than 40 years. He was a fellow Mason and Shriner for over 50 years.
Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jan; his children, Bob (Alanna) Sion, Mike (Paula) Sion, Sue (Bob) McCue and Amy (Gary) Price; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Art, Faye, Al and Mabel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Shriners Hospitals for Children in his name.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the "angels" at UnityPoint Hospice for their loving care of Robert and his family.
