RICK GENE CLINTON
Rick Gene Clinton, 62, of Byron, Ga., formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack at his home on Saturday morning, Feb. 20, 2021. Funeral services: 1 p.m. Monday at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, 1604 J St. SW, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. J. Reginald Daniel officiating. Burial will follow at the Walker Cemetery, Walker, Iowa. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel. Those attending the visitation and funeral are respectfully requested to wear masks and practice social distancing.
Rick is survived by his wife, Cassie; his son, Vince (Trish) Clinton and sons, Brayden (12), Trey (10), Tyker (9) and Tate (4) of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Fred Jr. (Kathy) Clinton, Sharon (Ron Sims) Clinton, Karen Sue (Michael) Papich, Chris (Kyle Perry) Spivey-Perry and Jamie (Mike) Rugg, all of Cedar Rapids, and Priscilla "Patty" (Chris Black) Smith of Indianapolis, Ind.; and a sister-in-law, Jackie Clinton of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sara; his parents, Fred V. Sr. and Irene M. (Stephenson) Clinton; and a brother, Dennis Clinton.
Rick was born Sept. 18, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, where he grew up and lived until moving to Byron, Ga., 25 years ago. He owned and operated All American Chimney Sweeps and Builders, Inc. in Byron.
Rick loved playing golf, riding his motorcycle and singing karaoke. He also liked to cook and enjoyed cookouts with family and friends. Most of all, Rick loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
