Richardson, Catherine Josephine (Peet)
Catherine Josephine (Peet) Richardson, 94, of Tipton, died Monday, April 12, 2010, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home, Tipton. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Tipton United Methodist Church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton.
Survivors include her children, Judith (Kenneth) Jackson of Wexford, Pa., Dennis (Mary) Richardson of Apache Junction, Ariz., Barbara (Steve) Carley of Burt, Rebecca (Robert) Young of Tipton, and Pamela (Greg) Vasquez of Castro Valley, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, Chris, Mike and Steve Jackson, Forrest and Kyle Richardson, Lori (Carley) Miller and Brett Carley, Angela (Young) Wells, Lisa (Young) Amidon and Diana (Young) Ozburn; and seven great-grandchildren, Karly, Meredith and Alex Miller, Liv and Gavin Richardson, Madelynn Amidon and Addison Carley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer; grandson, Phillip Young; brother, Robert Peet; and sister, Gloria Holthaus.
Catherine was born at the family home southeast of Martelle, Jones County, Iowa, on Nov. 14, 1915. She was the daughter of Clarence Bruce and Evelyn Peet. On May 18, 1939, she married Wilmer Richardson of Linn Grove, Linn County, Iowa. Catherine and Wilmer farmed near Alburnett for 12 years and on the Jordon's Grove farm for 22 years. The couple moved to Marion in 1973.
Catherine was an active member of the Alburnett Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be made to Alburnett Methodist Church.
