Richard "Bud" Havlik, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, in his home. Private Celebration of Life services will be held at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids. Burial will be in Czech National Cemetery.
Richard was born Feb. 4, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Joseph and Anna (Hillmer) Havlik. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Wilson High School, and later attended
Coe College, where he played football. Bud was united in marriage to Alicia Augusto on Dec. 31, 1952, in Piura, Peru. He worked as a geophysicist in the oil industry, where he traveled all over the world. Bud returned to Cedar Rapids, in 1970, and was involved with commercial real estate.
Bud is survived by his wife, Alicia, of over 67 years; his sons, Joseph J. (Sheree) Havlik of Dallas, Texas, and Ric (Doreen) Havlik of Broken Arrow, Okla.; six grandchildren, Joe R. (Tracy) Havlik, Shannyn (Chris) Chance, Jennifer (Robert) Garcia, Chantel (Jeff) Berger, Mike Havlik and Jay (Candance) Havlik; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Glenn Havlik, LaVerne "Tub" Havlik, Gladys Sturm and Helen Black.
