Retha "Reba" Josephine Rodgers


Retha "Reba" Josephine Rodgers, 84, of Marion, was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 10 a.m. on Thursday.
Reba was born on Jan. 19, 1934, the third of 12 children to Wilson and Helen Thompson Wash in Ninevah, Ky. She married Ted Rodgers Sr. on Oct. 23, 1954. Reba and Ted had 64 wonderful years together and faithfully attended Faith Bible Church in Cedar Rapids for 40 years.
Reba was a very devoted career Air Force wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Reba's glass always was half full. She unconditionally loved and supported her family no matter the challenges or adversities that came her way.
She was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed quilting, sewing for her children and grandchildren, visiting with and caring for her grandchildren, visiting with neighbors, fishing, bowling, gardening, shopping at Von Maur, going to Florida every winter for 20 years, and walking the beach.
Reba is survived by her husband, Ted; three children, Brenda (the late Philip) Taylor, Linda (the late Michael) Wallace and Ted Rodgers (Kim and Jaycob Williams); seven grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, Daniel, Grace, Jayson, Cody and Alyssa; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her special Morkie, Missy; and her siblings, Alberta Peyton, Susie Durr, Joyce Wash and Garry Wash.
Reba was preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings, Jimmy, Gene, Junior, Mary, Lillian, Judy and George; and one stillborn infant.
