Renee Ann Greiner, 58, of Parkston, S.D., and formerly of Washington, Iowa, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at Avera St. Benedict Hospital in Parkston.
A funeral Mass will be Thursday, Aug. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston. Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Greiner. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
Renee Ann Greiner was born Oct. 5, 1959, to Vern and Rose (Scott) Bormann in Parkston, S.D. She attended Parkston Elementary, Yankton High School and graduated from St. Coletta's School in Jefferson, Wis., in 1981. While at St. Coletta's, she met her future husband, Thomas F. Greiner. They were united in marriage on Sept. 26, 1981, in Parkston. She worked in housekeeping at Sacred Heart Hospital and as a waitress at Pizza Hut in Yankton, S.D. She also volunteered at the Washington County Animal Shelter and was employed by Washington County Development in Washington, Iowa.
Renee and Tom belonged to the Railroad Club in Washington, and Renee also belonged to 4-H and Girl Scouts in Jefferson, Iowa, and St. Joseph's Altar Society in Wellman, Iowa.
Renee was an avid collector, most notably of lanyards, badges and anything Iowa Hawkeyes. She made bookmarks and loved to read, sing and dance. Her knitting and crocheting had to be perfect. She participated in Special Olympics and received several medals in swimming.
