Patrick N. McNamara

PATRICK N. MCNAMARA Ryan Patrick N. McNamara, 76, of Westminster, Calif., passed away from this great Earth on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017. He was born on Oct. 10, 1940, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Walter T. McNamara and Rose M. (Schulte) McNamara. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, at Calvary Catholic Chapel, Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Citrus Heights, Calif. The Very Rev. Father Maurice O'Brien will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Citrus Heights, Calif. Patrick grew up in Ryan, Iowa, and attended St. Patrick's Catholic grade school. He attended Manchester High School, Manchester, Iowa, excelling in academics, music and, as an athlete, in football and wrestling, graduating in 1958. Patrick then attended the University of Iowa, and interrupted his education and became employed at Collins Radio Co., Cedar Rapids, and continued his education at Coe College, Cedar Rapids. In 1962, Patrick moved to Los Angeles, Calif., became employed, and ultimately completed his academic endeavor in graduating with a degree in economics from California State University Long Beach, C.S.U.L.B., Long Beach, Calif., in 1968. In 1968, Patrick became employed by the Burroughs Corp., Los Angeles, and began his career in executive sales, and he continued and remained in a sales career throughout his life. Patrick was a confirmed Irish bachelor, as he was never married. He was very congenial and enjoyed engaging in conversations and discussions of politics, history, economics and sports throughout his life. Patrick was a very compassionate person, as he believed life was about doing good deeds and paying respect to all persons. He enjoyed and deeply respected the interests of everyone and their friendship throughout his life. Patrick is survived by his brother, Thomas J. McNamara of Fair Oaks, Calif.; and his nieces, Carolyn J. McNamara and Cheryl L. Schofield; his brother, Walter L. McNamara of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his sister-in-law, Marjorie A. McNamara of Rogers, Ark.; nephew and niece, Michael J. McNamara and Julie K. McNamara; his cousins, David T. McNamara, Fairfax, Iowa, Kathleen M. McNamara, Fairfax, Iowa, Linda A. Earley, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, James A. Steinbrech, Solon, Iowa, Loretta A. Basten, Solon, Iowa, Daryl J. Steinbrech, Solon, Iowa, and Louella M. Ulch, Solon, Iowa; and many, many other cousins and relatives. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Walter T. McNamara and Rose M. McNamara; his sister, Ardith L. McNamara; and his brother, George D. McNamara.
