NANCY LYNNE (O'CONNOR) KELLOGG
Woodbury, Minn.
Nancy Lynne (O'Connor) Kellogg, 81, a long-time resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and recently of Woodbury, Minn., passed away peacefully on April 27, 2022, with family at her side.
Nancy was born Oct. 4, 1940, in Sioux City, Iowa, where she lived most of her childhood. She moved with her family to Illinois for a few years until returning to Sioux City to attend nursing school. It was there she reconnected with a childhood friend, Eugene Kellogg, who became the love of her life. Nancy and Eugene were married Dec. 27, 1962, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City. They moved to Cedar Rapids where Nancy worked for many decades as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital. After Eugene passed in 2018 after 55-plus years of marriage, Nancy moved to be with family in Minnesota.
Nancy is survived by her four children, Elaine (Stephen) Kolaczkowski of Beverly, Mass., Edward (Lena) Kellogg of Wrightwood, Calif., Pamela Kellogg of Woodbury, Minn., and Patrick (Michelle) Kellogg of Heber City, Utah; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; her parents, William and Iola; and her sister, Sheila Jo.
Nancy was a lifelong avid reader, enjoyed knitting and crocheting projects, listening to big band and other music from the forties and fifties as well as country music from all decades, and raising all sorts of house plants as well as her children. She enjoyed travelling across the country with Eugene after they retired, working crossword puzzles, and watching classic movies as well as all the Harry Potter movies. Nancy was deeply loved by her children and will be remembered as the best kind of mother who was always loving and supportive, while still allowing them the freedom to grow. Calm, compassionate and patient, she was unflappable in a crisis, and never raised her voice in anger. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.
Nancy was always a quiet, private and reserved individual. The family is respecting her wishes and there is no memorial service planned at this time.
The family would like to thank the following for their excellent care provided to Nancy: Dr. Ann Stroh, and staff at the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center and Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Dr. Sara Torgerson, Kristen and staff at Minnesota Oncology in St. Paul; and the excellent staff of Interim Hospice for their loving care and support over the past several months.
