Myrna Irene Carter, 100, of Marion, Iowa, passed away
on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at the Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, at Marion Methodist Church in Marion, conducted by the Rev. Mike Morgan. Family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Private inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial
Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Myrna was born on Sept. 26, 1920, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Earl and Lillian (Shakespeare) Bailey. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids. On Aug. 1, 1947, at Prairie Chapel Church in rural Marion, Myrna was united in marriage to Mark Carter. He preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 2013. She was a Diaconal Minister and Christian educator with the First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Quota Club, Sara Circle and other church groups.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam (Chuck) Cropp of Wisconsin Dells, Wis.; two sons, Scott (Janice) Carter of Bertram, Iowa, and Dale (Tina) Carter of Lead, S.D.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mark; and identical twin sister, Mary Hattie Bailey Tonne.
